Hundreds gathered for a candlelight vigil in Reading on Monday night (August 31) to honour those affected by deadly floods in Nepal.
The event, held in Reading town centre, was organised by the Greater Reading Nepalese Community Association (GRNCA), and attended by members of the public, community leaders, and Reading East MP Matt Rodda.
Flash floods struck Nepal’s Bagmati province on August 26, claiming more than 160 lives and leaving hundreds missing.
The disaster was triggered by a glacial mudslide above the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers, which swept through villages, hydropower stations, roads and bridges.
